Our introductory Employability courses will help you learn the skills that you require to look for work effectively, as well as how to write CVs, cover letters, present yourself during job interviews and how to use job search engines to look for work.

Course Description

If you have never worked before or are returning to work after a long break, getting started may seem quite intimidating. Our introductory Employability courses will help you learn the skills that you require to look for work effectively, as well as how to write CVs, cover letters, present yourself during job interviews and how to use job search engines to look for work.

Course Layout

This programme consists of both workshops and individual learning. You will be given different tasks to complete which all together shall form a portfolio for this course. You shall have a highly skilled and qualified tutor to assist you throughout your course. By the end of the course you shall have more confidence in the following areas:

CVs and Cover Letters

As part of the course, you shall examine different styles of CVs and cover letters in accordance with what you are applying for. Your tutor will then assist you to update your current CV, or help you to create one. As part of the programme, you shall also be encouraged to apply for at least one job of your choice, for which your tutor will help you write a cover letter.

Job Hunting and Interview Skills

You shall be taught how to upload your CV and utilise Universal Jobmatch and any other job search engines so as to look for work. You shall also be looking through interview at different interview techniques and how to apply them to your chosen field of work. In conclusion to this programme, you shall have a mock interview with you tutor from which you shall be able to receive feedback on what you did well and what you can improve.

In addition to updating or creating a CV, this course will provide you with a solid foundation of skills that you can apply on a daily basis to look for work.

Qualification

At the end of your course you shall obtain an Entry Level 3 Certificate in Employability from City and Guilds.

Duration

This course shall last a week upon the time of enrolment. You shall be expected to attend the centre every day for this period from 11:00 – 15:00.

Eligibility

In order for you to qualify for the government funding you must be 19 years old or older and currently be on a state benefit whilst actively searching for work.*

Cost

This course is government funded, therefore the whole programme, including the certificate, would be free, subject to the requirements*
