Mentor & Employability Skills Facilitator – Young Adults (Justice-Involved / At-Risk / Mental Health Support)

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Mentor and Employability Facilitator to support young adults aged 18–30 in Islington who have had contact with the justice system, are at risk of gang involvement, or face emotional and mental health challenges.

This role involves a mix of 1-to-1 mentoring and classroom-based workshops to build confidence, improve employability, and develop key life and work skills. You’ll be supporting individuals with complex barriers and helping guide them towards positive futures — including moving into work, training, or further development.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver face-to-face workshops on:

  • Basic digital skills (email, job searching, Zoom, online forms)
  • CV writing and job applications
  • Interview skills and confidence building
  • Soft skills (communication, self-awareness, resilience)
  • Team working and problem solving
  • Provide personalised 1-to-1 mentoring to address individual barriers, build trust, and develop achievable goals
  • Create and manage individual Action Plans to track progress and next steps
  • Motivate participants to attend regularly (min. 5 hours/week for 6–8 weeks)
  • Provide emotional support and signpost to local services when needed
  • Help participants move closer to employment, with a goal of supporting at least 25% into work
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and local services to ensure wraparound support

Essential Requirements

  • Proven track record of working with young people aged 18–30 facing disadvantage or complex needs
  • Experience supporting those with offending histories, gang involvement, or mental health challenges
  • Confident delivering group workshops and 1-to-1 support in a community or classroom setting
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by marginalised young people
  • Skilled in motivational coaching, goal setting, and strengths-based mentoring
  • Organised, empathetic and committed to safeguarding and inclusion

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Islington area and local support services
  • Qualification or training in youth work, employability, mental health or related fields
  • Experience working to progression or employment outcomes

Working Pattern

  • Part-time, flexible working pattern
  • Estimated 15–30 hours per week, depending on caseload
  • Role runs from May 2025 to November 2025

You will be working alongside a member of staff to help execute our digital strategy across SEO, paid ads, content, and social platforms.

This is ideal for students, recent graduates, or career changers who are looking to gain hands-on experience and enhance their portfolio. A professional reference will be provided upon successful completion of the 4-month placement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support off-site SEO activities including backlink outreach, citations, and keyword research
  • Assist with the setup and optimisation of paid campaigns (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Ads)

Intech Centre is offering a voluntary internship for motivated individuals keen to gain hands-on experience while working alongside qualified advisers, tutors, and various team members on multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Career Services Support: Assist careers advisers and tutors with day-to-day tasks, including helping learners write CVs and offering general guidance.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage phone calls, schedule appointments, track attendance, organise calendars, respond to emails, and assist in exam coordination.
  • Digital Marketing & Social Media: Contribute to the development and management of social media channels, help create digital marketing campaigns, and monitor online engagement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with different staff members on diverse projects to gain insight into various tasks and roles across the organisation.
  • Additional Projects: Take part in other initiatives and activities that arise within the centre, using your strengths and creativity to contribute to the team.

Administrator (with Career Progression)

We are looking for young (or young at heart), energetic, committed and eager to learn individuals to join our team as an Administrator with intention of progressing to become a Careers Advisor.

We are looking for an individual who has very strong English, Maths, IT and communication skills.

Applicants must have minimum of GCSE grade B in both English and Maths and must be a university graduate . IT competency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) is a must be. Must be presentable, confident in talking to people, have good eye on detail and must have professional approach. You will be dealing with customer on 1-2-1 basis and provide them information, advice and guidance. You are required to improve yourself and get new knowledge and gather resources so you can provide better service to your clients.

Opening hours: Mon-Fri 9:30am – 6:00pm and Sat 10:00 – 2:00pm (one off each month)

Salary: £23,000 – £26,000+ per annum.

Ideally, the candidate to live locally or within 60 minutes travelling distance. Please consider commuting distance before applying.

  • find learning and work opportunities
  • use careers information and resources
  • make decisions that suit their life and their circumstances
  • look at available training and work options
  • make a plan of action for achieving their aims, and give them support as they carry it out
  • developing working relationships with employers, colleges, universities and training providers
  • keeping up to date with occupational and labour market information
  • support training department and employability learners when required
  • updating records and completing other administration tasks

Qualifications and Skills

  • Level of written and verbal English must be excellent
  • Having A-Level in English or Maths will be an advantage
  • Must be university graduate
  • Touch typing will be an advantage
