A very happy birthday

We’re 27.
And we’re just as glad to be here.

With digital marketing and AI programmes, Functional Skills Maths and English courses and exams, and private ICDL training, there is plenty happening at Intech Centre.

On 12 October 2026, we celebrate 27 years of service. Since opening our doors on 12 October 1999, we have supported hundreds of thousands of people through our work, helping them develop skills, gain qualifications and achieve goals that matter to them.

We are proud of that history. We are just as pleased to still be doing what we enjoy: welcoming people, sharing knowledge and helping someone take a step forward. With more than 25 years of funded adult education experience, we have plenty to bring to our next chapter.

To our learners, clients, colleagues, funders, partners and neighbours: this celebration belongs to you, too.

Web Design & AI

Web design was one of our original services. Now we are preparing to help more people develop website skills of their own — a fitting next step for our anniversary year.

More than a course.
Support for what comes next.

Our Skills Bootcamp and London Talent Pathways learners receive careers and employability support as part of their programmes: help with CVs, applications, interviews and presenting their skills to employers. Learners pursuing self-employment can also receive support with identifying clients and paid opportunities.

We want learners to feel proud of their work — and ready to explain what they can offer.

This is programme-based learner support, not a standalone public careers advice service.
Still at the heart of what we do

Maths, English and IT.
Achievements worth celebrating.

Some qualifications represent much more than the certificate itself. A maths pass might help someone meet an entry requirement. An English qualification might be the next step towards further learning or a new role.

That is why Functional Skills Maths and English remain central to Intech Centre. Our experience spans more than 26 years across adult basic skills, Skills for Life and Functional Skills provision.

We work with people at different starting points: adults returning to learning after many years, learners building their confidence and candidates who have finished preparing and are ready to book an exam.

Choose online preparation or explore our Functional Skills Level 2 exams online and at our London centre. When you need a qualification for a particular course, apprenticeship or job, check the receiving organisation’s requirements before booking.

Starting again? You are welcome here.
You do not have to apologise for needing support or for deciding to try again.

Private courses and exams are fee-paying. Current funded Maths and English support through LTP is linked to eligible vocational learners with an identified learning need; it is not a separate, universally free offer.

Private · Fee-paying

ICDL courses & exams.
Our IT roots, going strong.

IT is where our story began, and it remains one of our specialisms. Many learners know us through ECDL courses and exams. Our ICDL provision continues that work, helping people develop practical skills in word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.

There is real satisfaction in learning to do something yourself: organising a spreadsheet, creating a professional document or delivering a presentation you are happy to share. We still enjoy helping people reach that point.

Our ICDL courses and examinations are currently private and fee-paying. We do not have dedicated ICDL funding. Please check both course and examination costs before booking; examinations are charged separately from the course.

A little look back

A name. A computer centre.
The beginning of something special.

So, how did we get here? It began with an idea: bring useful IT services together under one roof for individuals and businesses in Islington.

We could not have written the whole story on opening day. But looking at today’s digital courses, there is a lovely connection to where we started.

The story behind our name
INformation
& TECHnology
= Intech Centre

Twenty-seven years later, we are still rather pleased with the name.

Our story, one chapter at a time

12 October 1999Our doors open in Islington

We began as a one-stop computer centre, providing computer repairs and assembly, networking, telephone systems, web and graphic design, and professional printing. A customer might need a computer fixed; a local business might need help with its network, website or printed materials.

Late 2000From fixing computers to teaching skills

We started computer courses for businesses in Islington. Alongside helping people with their equipment, we were now helping them get more from it. Teaching opened the door to more qualifications, new programmes and the wider training work that followed.

More than 25 years of funded deliveryMaking adult learning more accessible

Our funded adult education experience spans successive programmes and arrangements, including the Adult Education Budget (AEB), Adult Skills Fund (ASF) and earlier adult learning initiatives.

Our history also includes Train to Gain, EQUIP and Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) projects, including creative and hospitality sector courses. A funded place can enable someone to begin when the cost of learning would otherwise stand in the way. We are glad to have helped make those opportunities available for more than a quarter of a century.

Across our examination historyFrom IT certification to international ambitions

We delivered Microsoft examinations through Prometric and Pearson VUE examinations, and were a Microsoft partner and Cisco partner. Our wider work included the British Council, Heriot-Watt University, Professional Skills Tests and ACT examinations for American college entry.

These are historical services and partnerships. They reflect the many different ambitions our examination rooms have helped support, not a list of currently bookable tests.

More than 17 years of careers service deliveryConversations that helped people move forward

Our advisers supported people through the National Careers Service and nextstep, helping them explore options, recognise their strengths and make decisions about learning and work. To everyone who delivered, used or referred people to that service: thank you.

Our delivery ended at the end of September 2026. Today, careers and employability support at Intech Centre is specifically part of our Skills Bootcamp and London Talent Pathways programmes.

12 October 2026 — and what comes nextTwenty-seven years, and plenty more to look forward to

We celebrate our 27th anniversary with GLA Skills Bootcamp Wave 7, London Talent Pathways, our continuing Functional Skills and private IT provision, and Web Design and AI courses coming soon.

The services have evolved. The pleasure of helping someone learn, qualify and move forward has stayed with us.

We are proud of our history as one of the UK’s largest Life in the UK and Trinity SELT examination centres. Many people first came to know Intech Centre through one of these important appointments.

National Careers Service
& nextstep.

For more than 17 years, our team helped people explore careers, recognise their experience and plan their next steps. It was a privilege to be part of those conversations.

Our National Careers Service delivery ended at the end of September 2026, as the national service moved from the Department for Education into Department for Work and Pensions arrangements.

Our commitment continues through the careers and employability support we provide to our Skills Bootcamp and London Talent Pathways learners.

We no longer offer standalone public careers advice. Read DWP’s information about the national service arrangements (opens in a new tab).

Our community

Proud to call
Islington home.

Twenty-seven years in service is something to celebrate. Being part of a community for that long makes it even more special.

Islington and the surrounding boroughs have been central to our story. Local businesses helped shape our early services. Learners trusted us with their education. Jobcentres and community organisations introduced people to opportunities they might not otherwise have found.

Our online services now reach further afield, but we still value the simple things about being a local centre: a conversation with the team, a familiar face and someone knowing where to turn when they are ready to learn.

The people behind the milestone

A very big
thank you.

This anniversary is the work of many people, not just the passing of time. We are proud of what we have achieved together.

01 / OUR TEAM

Past and present.

Thank you for your knowledge, patience and commitment. Our early IT teams, tutors, assessors, administrators, invigilators, careers advisers, employer engagement staff, coordinators, quality teams and managers have all contributed to Intech Centre.

The carefully prepared lesson, the reassuring explanation, the checked booking and the follow-up call all matter. We appreciate the care behind them.

02 / OUR LEARNERS & CLIENTS

Your goals. Your effort.

Thank you for choosing us and trusting us with your time, your questions and goals that matter to you. Learning often has to fit around work, family and other responsibilities. We recognise the determination involved.

We are delighted to have played a part in helping hundreds of thousands of people move forward over these 27 years.

03 / OUR FUNDERS & PARTNERS

Opportunities made possible.

Thank you for the opportunities, confidence and continued support. You have enabled us to deliver programmes, develop our provision and reach people who could benefit from it.

We value the relationships built over many years and are excited about what we can continue to do together.

04 / OUR COMMUNITY & STAKEHOLDERS

Better, together.

To jobcentres, community centres, training providers, housing associations, employers and all our stakeholders: thank you for working alongside us.

A referral, an introduction, a vacancy or a shared idea can create an opportunity. We are grateful for your support and for everything you contribute to our communities.

And to everyone who has recommended Intech Centre to a friend, colleague or family member: thank you for passing our name on. It means a great deal.
